Sights Sights: Asisi Panorama: A work of art for 2017

’Luther 1517’ is a giant panorama created by artist Yadegar Asisi depicting life in Wittenberg 500 years ago when monk and scholar Martin Luther published his 95 Theses proposing the reform of the (Catholic) church. They launched a
revolution which continues to shape the history and religions of the world.
With a height of 15 metres and a circumference of 75 metres, the 360-degree panorama is displayed inside a purpose-built rotunda in the old town. ’Luther 1517’, one of a series of vast panoramas by Yadegar Asisi, was jointly commissioned by the Protestant Church of Germany and Lutherstadt Wittenberg in time for the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.
